Awesomeness of our ancestors

Mikaira Pau is a great fan of the E Tū Whānau approach and uses it in his work to combat family violence. He often draws on the E Tū Whānau values in his work with rangatahi.

Mikaira recruits auidence members to perform at Te Ra o te Raukura in Lower Hutt, Jan 2018

This is how he describes the way he works:
“I talk about how awesome our ancestors were – how we paid a lot of attention to detail; how we looked after families; how we never swore. We did fight, but that’s not what we’re talking about. We’re not talking about wars. We’re talking about family violence. Mostly I just tell them about the awesomeness of our ancestors.”
